Reincarnation Conspiracy

In year 1910, a news that broke out from a place called Unapi shook the world. This was the time before internet or computer. So if a news became global sensation then it must be reality shattering. It was!

Out of nowhere a ten-years-old girl named Sulekha Rai claimed that she remembered her past life. Before the news got popular countless experts heavily investigated the case and grilled this young girl to see if she spoke the truth. Shockingly, she was able to tell every intimate detail about the woman she was in the life before.

A married woman named Hansika Pujari died nine years prior to the birth of Sulekha. Further Hansika lived 600 km away in a remote village from where Sulekha was born. This was the other corner of a huge subcontinental region then known as Shinaadhi. There was no proof of connection between the two families. As a matter of fact, the two families didn’t even speak the same language. Yet, somehow Sulekha was able to prove that in her previous life, she was Hansika. She spoke of details so intimate that even the members of the deceased woman’s family didn’t know.

This was unbelievable. While there were critics finding faults in solid proofs the entire Shinaadhi region celebrated this news. That’s because for centuries the religions practitioners have been saying,

@Ekranth: “We live multiple lives. Our bodies perish but our soul lives on. Later the soul returns to the mortal plane in a new form and identity.”

Believers believed still there was no proof until ‘Sulekha incident’. This news reached every living soul of the planet. A foreign author even documented the whole thing in a book titled, ‘How is this possible?’

Many years later two men along with thirty-six years old Sulekha entered a dimly lit place to meet the man who planned this entire conspiracy. The visiting men asked, “Sir, our plan has succeeded. Not only did the forced religious conversions stop and those converted returned to us, but more people around the world are taking interest in knowing about our faith.”

The old man gave a faint smile looking at Sulekha who seemed worried. She was silent throughout the conversation but when she was just about to leave she asked, “Sir, don’t you think that the world deserves to know the truth? I think it’s high time that they should know.”

“No.” spoke the weak old man, “There are some secrets that the world should never know. We have to take this truth to the fire that purifies us.”

The truth is that this intelligent old man planned the entire reincarnation conspiracy. The 19th and the 20th century was the time when people of Shinaadhi where oppressed by their evil colonizers, a theist division of the company. These evil dictators first drained the public of their wealth, threw them in poverty and then forced them to convert to their faith with fake promise of a better life. This worked as masses were subscribing to the now sinister, mono-theistic ideology called Deviral.

This became a concern for the leaders of Shinaadhi including a man named Ravindra Lajpath. The best way to cripple a nation is to destroy the foundational beliefs of the people. Unfortunately, this was happening in front of his eyes. For years he was seeking an opportunity to rectify this situation. Then one day an opportunity walked to his doorstep in form on five-years-old Sulekha.

Sulekha’s father boasted her saying, “She has an exceptionally good memory. She can remember anything and with great detail. Can you have her as a talent during your speeches so that we can earn some money?”

Lajpathji (affectionately called as), spoke nothing then but visited their home a month later with a plan. For the next five years he trained Sulekha to know everything about a deceased woman named Hansika Pujari. Sulekha didn’t just memorize her facts but learned her mannerisms as well. All this without meeting Hansika’s family. Lajpathji along with the group of conspirators planned the narrative that verified the factual details and made it believable. They were so thorough in their research that they even found out that Hansika died during childbirth. On her deathbed she whispered to her husband,

“I will return to take care of our son. Till then please look after him.”

To the best of his knowledge, the husband never spoke about this conversation in public.

The planning was so airtight that, five years later when Sulekha spoke of her rebirth, there was nobody who could prove her false. That’s because to some extent, Lajpathji trained Sulekha to believe that she is Hansika. Hansika became young Sulekha’s identity. There was no stopping now.

After decades of work, Lajpathji saw hope, hope to free his motherland from the oppressors, hope to regain the glory of his faith and its valuable teachings. Now that it was happening it was of utmost importance that this secret is never revealed. Lajpathji ensured of that. Even after his passing none of the other conspirators spoke of truth till death. The last member of this conspiracy to die was Sulekha herself.

She died at a comparatively young age of 53. That’s because at one point she starved herself to death out of fear of being caught. As long as she lived people didn’t stop questioning her story. Further, due to her popularity there was no place in the world where people didn’t know her. Life was becoming insufferable but all this was for a greater cause. Sulekha felt guilty every time she spoke the lie and yet she didn’t hesitate even once.

Sulekha died in presence of her ‘son’. The son who was nine years older than her. Her last words to him were, “I wish I could tell you the truth.”

What truth? I don’t understand. As the teller of this story I know that for her entire life Sulekha spoke nothing but the truth. She just didn’t know it. That’s because truth is subjective. It all depends on who is telling the story. Sulekha and the other conspirators believed that they planned the entire story. But does that mean Sulekha can’t be the reincarnation of Hansika?

Of course she can. Actually, she was.

There is no one in the world who remembers everything accurately. The reason some people are good at memorizing some things is because they have a natural inclination to that subject. That in born talent comes from experiences of the lives before. Even in case of Sulekha, the reason she was able to accurately memorize the facts of a stranger was because in the previous life she was that stranger. Her soul was tuned to absorb Hansika’s life information like sponge in water. That’s what made her act so convincing every time.

Hansika died of some medical condition. While giving birth she promised her husband that she will return. Even after death she kept her promise and returned as Sulekha. Following that she took care of her son in the best way possible. This is her story. This is the truth.

Now, you might ask, don’t you think the people of the world deserve to know that reincarnation is really real? To that I just want to repeat what the wise old Lajpathji said,

“There are some secrets that the world should never know.”
