Story of a young woman who finds herself is in a dilemma when she returns home from a holiday.
305 words
This is a story from the 1980s. A young woman had gone abroad to her relative’s place for a month-long vacation. She was actually forcefully sent there by her father to distance her from a tragedy.
A month ago, Nia lost her boyfriend, the love of her life, in a terrible train accident. This trip somehow managed to heal her broken heart and spirit.
On the day of her return, she has a short phone conversation with her father from the departure airport. She is happy and saying, “I have a surprise for you!”
Coincidentally her father is happy too as he repeats the same, “I have a surprise for you!”
While in air Nia is very excited to return. She smiles looking at the sleeping man next to her.
“I can’t believe my luck. Universe has given me a second chance to have love. Eyes, nose, hair, all the facial features… if that’s not enough even his personality is exactly same as R-.”
Nia falls short of saying the name as she chokes on her own words. The water works that started mid flight have left stains of washed away makeup.
“I think it is high time that I should move on, if not for me then at least for him.” she thinks while fixing her makeup.
Once the plane lands she walks out of the airport boldly holding the hand of her new found love. She confidently walks towards her father, who has come to receive her, until…she sees the guy standing next to him.
He is the exact carbon copy of the guy she is walking with. It appears somehow that her ex-boyfriend has returned from the dead.
What will she do now is a story for another day. But in this moment she does what she feels is right.
She faints.
