Building a Solar System – Day Three

Let there be Light

Interstellar space is vast, empty, cold and dark. It’s the perfect scary place. No normal living being can survive here. That is without a suit that has proper shielding and life support systems. Without that, mere absence of external pressure is enough to kill a person in such a hostile environment.

This was a problem for Trimi species as well until they acquired the knowledge of cosmic conversion. With this ability, the thoughts that originate in their mind get converted into energy and then manifest around their body as a flame. This provides them enough external air pressure to balance internal pressure, sufficiently high temperature that their body parts don’t instant freeze and finally the air they need to constantly breath.

While these beings are using their flame-on ability to survive in space, knowingly or unknowingly they are creating a byproduct that is matter. This is the next step in creation of a solar system. Except, to build huge planets, a star and other objects of space they would need more than one person’s mind. They need a huge army of soul batteries to channel their thoughts and energies to create matter on such large scale. In my opinion number has to be in millions, if possible in billions.

“Twenty- what!” yells Aka Rai, “How many souls did you say we got?” she asks in a raised tone.

After sleeplessly working the entire yesterday to build an accommodation for a billion souls in the shell she has become very cranky. Her anger is not unreasonable. The only problem is that it is directed towards the wrong person.

Ind Ral is kind enough to receive her full wrath without getting offended. “Twenty thousand souls.” he says calmly.

Meanwhile Sam Ace, the man-in-charge of this project, is conveniently away from this heated conversation; gathering and managing the crowd of volunteered souls. Opening a wormhole doorway he guides these souls to leave their home planet Trimidi and enter the space in shell.

The first people to step outside on the other side of the wormhole find themselves standing in complete darkness with stars visible in the distant sky all around. They certainly feel solid surface but see nothing. Sam uses his flame-on technique to illuminate the place. He generates just a tiny flame at the tip of his finger and yet a large area of this shell gets illuminated due to accurately positioned reflective surfaces.

The place appeares to be made out of transparent ice like material. Except it is not cold. One by one Sam lets other people come in.

Meanwhile on the exact diametrically opposite side of the hollow spherical shell there is Aka continuously arguing with her co-worker Ind in what appeared like a control room made out of similar material.

“No, no, no, no!” she yells, “This is unacceptable. You have to go back and convince the council for more souls. Do you know how long it will take to generate matter and narrative with just 20k souls?!”

“A day…” replies Ind. His voice is shaky as if he is guessing it.

“Yes. One freaking whole day! wasted on just initiation.” she shouts, “…and another day for all matter to settle.”

She seems very pissed. “Where is Sam? I need to talk to him.”

As I said above Sam is on the other end of his large bubble solar system. This is far but with Trimian divine vision these God like being posses Aka is able to accurately spot Sam surrounded by a crowd.

Her body suddenly engulfed in flame momentarily melting a wall of the shell letting her out. Her thoughts are so full of rage that it give her an additional boost while flying through space.

The thing about cosmic conversion is that once you convert the heavy emotionally loaded thoughts into energy, these thoughts no longer stay within you. So by the time Aka reaches on the other side, she is pretty much calm. There she introduces herself to the crowd and tours them around the residential pods space.

“…and here your bodies will be in hibernation while your minds will be interlinked for you to build stories of your choice. This will define the narrative of the solar system and the lives you will get to live in them.”

As instructed all of them get in their allocated pods. Sam and Aka help them where ever required. Sam is happy to see Aka has calmed down. Just as how Aka was able to spot Sam from distance, Sam too was able to eavesdrop on the conversation between Aka and Ind.

“I’m glad you realized that it’s best to not obsess over what we don’t have and instead focus on making the best out of what we do.” this is a line Sam keeps on perfecting in his mind in order to deliver it once he eventually has to have a conversation with Aka.

Once all their bodies are hooked in the device, their souls start working as a hive mind as they start dreaming of a simple fantasy world.

“Why didn’t you ask for more?!” she says while landing a hard punch on his left shoulder from behind. “These high council members are a bunch of idiots. Do they even understand the importance of what we are doing here?”

Aka knows these council members, some of them personally, so she knows Sam is not to be blamed. Still she keeps on talking and criticizing the council to vent her frustration. She is talking so much that Sam is unable find any room to speak the clever line he has prepared.

When he eventually says it, this annoys Aka even more. Sam notices that. As a settlement he says, “Aka, you seem tired. Why don’t you go home, take some rest and then work on life equations. Meanwhile Ind and me, we will manage the initiation process.”

Sam is very gentle and careful about what he speaks. Then generating a wormhole for her, he lets her go. Exhausted Aka simply walks through.

Once she is gone Sam hears a male voice in his ear. It is Ind.

IND: Sam. These beings are good. Perfect lot of dreamers. They are performing better than a hundred thousand were expected to do. The data they have generated in such a short time is amazing…

SAM: I wish you would have shared this information sooner, while Aka was making my ears bleed.

IND: Oh. Is she gone? Will you be doing the initiation then?

SAM: Yes.

IND: Oh…okay.

SAM: What does that mean?

IND: It’s just that she is better at this than you.

SAM: I am as good as she is. You’ll know once you see me in action. Don’t forget, there was a time when you two used to work for me.

There’s a momentary silence between them and then Sam asks. “Are we ready for initiation?”

“Not yet. But we will be by the time you reach your position.” Ind replies with full of excitement.

This excitement is result of the beautiful images he see on the big screen. The visual representation of the dreams these beings are imagining. A beautiful world and a simple blissful life.

Meanwhile, Sam reaches his position which is at the exact center of the hollow sphere. He take his usual mediation position again controlling the energy emitted from his skin.

With his eyes shut he speaks, “Alright Ind. I’m in position and ready to receive.”

“Copy that. I’m sending you the data.” Speaks Ind. Followed by this there is a rush of thoughts into Sam’s head. His mind is flooded with made up memories. He suddenly gets overwhelmed with what he sees and as a response uncontrollable tears came out of his eyes.

IND: Are you crying?

SAM: Yes. Aren’t you?

IND: Of course I am. This is beautiful.

SAM: I can see that. Not just see, I can feel it.

Sam is feeling a wide range of emotions as all these story events flash in front of his eyes in that instant. Then at one point he opens his eyes. With a smile on his face he says,

“Let there be light.”

The moment he says this a huge waves of energy are generated from Sam’s head and start moving outwards in all directions. The waves have so much power that they hit hard on the inner surface of the shell making it crack.

Fortunately the force is uniform all around and so the shell doesn’t break anywhere. It severely damages the inner wall creating a lot of debris of ice rock. But thanks to Aka, she had anticipated that which is why she maintained a sufficient thickness for the inner walls.

Meanwhile the twenty thousand souls are safe in their pods as they continue to dream. As more waves of energy are generated, they bounce back from the wall and hit against one another creating a chaotic space full of flames and hot gas.

This gives rise to the next step of creation called the dancing with fire and ice.
