You go to a beach, you sit down, you look at the horizon (perhaps watch the sun rise), the place starts becoming brighter so you shut your eyes to welcome the warmth of the sun on your face, you peacefully listen to the waves and feel the cool breeze that softens the heat from the sun. While enjoying this moment your hands fall on the soft and slightly moist sand. Suddenly you have the urge to move your hands around and so you do it without any hesitation.
In that moment you could be just moving the sand, digging it, making waves, writing names or creating a sculpture of sorts. Whatever be the case it feels nice to make the sand your blank canvas where you can show your creativity.
It is strange for me to use this word ‘creativity’ because I know we aren’t actually creating anything while playing in sand. The sand is just there and we are simply changing its form to make shapes that we find familiar.
What is this?
Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It only changes from one form to the other.
This is something we already know. We also know that we the people along with everything in the universe is made out of energy. (Energy that is converted into matter to be precise.) So, can I say that the above quote applies to us as well? That we too are neither created nor destroyed. We simply change our form from one moment to the other. In other words, the universe shapes us out of the sand (energy) to make something that the universe finds familiar.
By familiar it could be something the universe has witnessed before or perhaps the creation is in the image of a universe itself. I believe the later is more likely since we too have a habit of creating things just like the universe we live in. The only difference being that we as a universe exist inside our individual subjective minds a.k.a. our consciousness.
The point I am trying to make is, maybe, dare I say the word, all of us are in some form, a God.

Does our consciousness exist irrespective of what happens to the universe we live in?
