“It’s all sweet, I can smell it. As the sun sinks past the horizon the world goes dark, hence I must prepare.” says he.
The source of this scent are Pro-mas-phores, a species of flowers that give out sweet scent during sunset as a way of pleasing their sun god in order to tempt him to return next day. Sun being the source of all life on this planet, they need him back.
“Sleep well lord Rakhus.” says a soldier joining his hands while facing the sun.
He wears a copper colored metallic armor that has taken some damage. The broken edges that seem to have pierced his skin bleed blue. He pulls out those shards one by one. “I must prepare, since the war won’t be gentle.”
‘Kront’ Bahel Khiv, a celebrated soldier, is alone. It has been days since he last saw a friendly soul. But he has no regret which is why he had landing on an enemy territory all by himself. He took the full wrath of an army for days yet he survived. He deserves every bit of the title ‘Kront’ which means a thousand equivalent.
“All I wish to do is to end this mindless conflict.” he says as the place starts to lose light. Looking down he can see that the ground is shaking. His eyes widen the first time he hears a hiss. The amount of hissing sounds increase, but they don’t seem to bother him. Pulling out the last pierced shard all his wounds quickly heal. He stands still with eyes shut and all of a sudden his body rises away from the ground along with a piece of rock underneath.
“The mining process has begun.” he says as more rocks rise and fly towards the sky. As the place grows darker the hissing sound gets louder, “This also means that the enemy is close.”
Bahel chuckles.
“Enemy is such a negative word. Instantly it implies that the Sapravahi are the bad guys of this story.” says Bahel. “Maybe they are not the enemy. Maybe it’s us.”
He looks up and as the light from the star reduces, a green hexagonal pattern seems to emerge that is consistently spread across the sky. It’s actually a honeycomb like formation formed of star-like points. Even though this structure appears like made out of stars, all of it exists inside the planet’s atmosphere.
While Bahel floats in the air he keeps on jumping on to other rocks as the previous rises far away from the ground. When the hissing becomes unavoidable the mud starts to move at various points. It’s almost dark now. Bahel has the urge to draw his sword but he doesn’t.
“We begin in 3, 2, 1.” the moment he says ‘one’ a humanoid being with snake like head and slimy skin jumps out of a hole and comes at him with his sharp claws aimed at him. Observing the size of the army behind him Bahel says to himself,
“I have a long night ahead.”
