Beard theory of Sciences is the most insane theory that was very much in practice in the first philosophically aware city of Glizeleum state. The idea was proposed somewhen in the first century of the Yuvian calendar.
Gurumala city was the first place in the world to practice logical thinking. Prior to that many practices were followed blindly as the word of God. But the wise people of this city boldly challenged them.
The new practice they come up with was to listen to the arguments and then decide whether an explanation to any unexplainable phenomenon is valid or not. Even when some theories made sense, these people maintained a skeptical approach so that no theory was set in stone. Some of the greatest revelations of the universe like ‘our planet is not flat’ and ‘vastness of space with planets and stars’ came from this place.
Having said that this same place is the source of the craziest baseless theory. Yet it was widely practiced and became part of their culture.
Unfortunately, the first great thinkers of free Guramala were single unmarried old men. These people had a habit of being lost in thoughts for days simply wandering around on the river bed and then returning to share their wisdom with others during the weekly philosophical meet. While doing so these people didn’t care about their personal grooming. So their beards grew out of control.
Over the many decades of wisdom sharing by these great thinkers, the laymen of the city came up with this insane theory stating, “Stroking beards help us get wise thoughts. This is how they gained so much wisdom.” Up until that point the fashion was to maintain a clean shave.
Following that when educational institutions were built for academic learning of sciences, a law was made that only those who could grow beard were allowed in.
This meant that a few unfortunate men and all the women were banned from the sciences. If any woman was caught violating the law then she was expelled from the city premises as people feared that she will preach false wisdom if allowed to study.
This was quite unfortunate that the people that lit the fire of logical thinking were the same to preach this kind of gender based discrimination. While this theory was widely accepted in the Glizeleum and some other neighboring states for many centuries that followed. The other powerhouse of wisdom called the Drandt state outright rejected this theory.
