This is a story of a soldier who once killed God.
463 words

A very long time back from the modern times of the Yuvian history there was a deadly Dharma war. It lasted a millennium and turned the entire planet into hot volcanic hell. This was time when even the gods descended on the mortal plane to fight. Among them was the one true God who created this world. He called himself Vasant Kresh.
Despite being all-powerful he decided to be born as a mere mortal. That’s because he was there not to win the war but to teach his creation some life lessons so that such meaningless wars won’t happen in future. Unfortunately he too was consumed by the pleasures of his mortal life and forgot his true identity and purpose.
By the time Vasant realized his divinity, he was gravely wounded and laying on the battlefield. In his last breath he spoke his wisdom to whoever would listen (which was later compiled as Jeevneeti). One of the people listening was Samas, the guy who struck the deadly blow with his ax. Samas was overwhelmed by the guild of killing God.
“Oh no! What did I do?! I’m sorry… sorry… For this I will be punished, not just in this life but many to come.”
Samas dropped his ax and fell on his knees. He was crying uncontrollably.
“No you won’t.” said the God. “You were always meant to be the one to kill me. It’s not your fault.”
“Please take me. Don’t let them punish my family for my mistake.” begged Samas grabbing God’s feet.
“Don’t worry.” God said, “So long as you don’t harm someone I’ll protect you. No harm will come you or your blood so long as you choose to live the life of simplicity and non-violence.”
With that last bit of wisdom God’s mortal form perished. Meanwhile Samas simply sat there on the battlefield chanting God’s name. The battle came to an end and so did the war, still no harm came to Samas or his family.
Many decades later, Samas was old and at the end of his life. He lay on the deathbed smiling at the bright light in front of his eyes. He asked, “Why? Why would you protect your own killer? Let him live a happy life… Why?”
To that a divine voice responded, “What kind of a God would I be if I discriminate between my own creation.”
For many generations Samas family chose the path of simplicity and non-violence. Result of that their life was smooth and obstacle free. But as every story goes, a boon from gods must be broken someday. That day came during the modern era.
That’s a story for another time. For now the one true God kept his promise and protected Samas family under the boon called Samasadharann.
